Accessibility Statement for The Copious Heart of Central New York, Inc.

Effective Date: 06/19/2026

Last Updated: 06/19/2026

The Copious Heart of Central New York, Inc. (referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our”) is dedicated to ensuring that our website – www.thecopiousheart.org  – is accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or technology. We believe that all individuals should be able to access our mission, programs, and resources without barriers.

Our Commitment

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA standards. These internationally recognized guidelines help make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological impairments.

Accessibility Features on Our Site

We have implemented the following features to improve usability for all visitors:

  • Alternative Text: Meaningful alt attributes for all non‑decorative images.

  • Keyboard Navigation: Full functionality via keyboard alone (e.g., Tab, Enter, Escape keys).

  • Clear Heading Structure: Proper heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) for logical screen reader navigation.

  • Sufficient Color Contrast: Text and background colors meet minimum contrast ratios.

  • Resizable Text: You can zoom or scale text up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

  • Descriptive Links: Link text clearly describes its destination (e.g., “Read our annual report” instead of “Click here”).

  • Forms with Labels: All input fields have explicit labels and error suggestions.

  • No Time Limits: Most content has no time limits; any exceptions include controls to adjust or extend time.

  • Consistent Navigation: Menus and navigation elements appear consistently across pages.

Ongoing Efforts & Monitoring

We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing journey, not a one‑time fix. To maintain and improve accessibility:

  • We periodically test our website using automated tools and manual testing with assistive technologies.

  • We provide accessibility training to staff and volunteers involved in website content creation and development.

  • When we launch new features or third‑party integrations (e.g., donation forms, event registration), we evaluate them for accessibility before deployment.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Current known limitations include:

  • Legacy Documents: Some older PDFs, Word files, or other downloadable resources may not be fully accessible. We are actively converting critical documents to accessible formats upon request.

  • Third‑Party Content: Occasionally, embedded content from partners (e.g., social media feeds, external forms) may not fully comply with WCAG 2.1. We encourage those partners to improve accessibility.

  • Donation/Volunteer Platforms: Our donation and volunteer management platforms are provided by third‑party vendors. We work with them to request accessibility improvements, but some limitations may be outside our direct control.

If you encounter any barrier on our site, please let us know (see contact information below).

We do not endorse or guarantee any specific third‑party tool.

Compliance Status

Our website aims for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. Partial conformance may exist for third‑party content. We have not yet undergone a formal accessibility audit by an external consultant, but we are committed to securing one as funding allows.
